Luis Demetrio (full name: Luis Demetrio Traconis Jr.) was a Mexican musician, composer, and songwriter born on August 16, 1921, in Campeche, Mexico. He had a prolific career that spanned several decades, and he composed music in various genres including bolero, cha-cha-cha, and salsa. Some of his best-known compositions include "Sway" ("Quien Sera) which was popularized by Dean Martin, "La media vuelta" ("The Half Turn"), and "Contigo en la distancia" ("With You in the Distance"). Demetrio was recognized for his contribution to Mexican music and was inducted into the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2015. He died on March 7, 2007.
